Regarding the Lost Art of Apostolic Praying...
"
I am deeply convinced in my own soul that the art of apostolic praying is almost a lost art in the Church of Christ. Think of the matchless promises which are attached to prayer. 'If ye shall ask anything of the Father, He will give it you in My Name.' 'Ask and yc shall receive, that your joy may be fulfilled ;' and ' Whensoever ye stand praying, forgive if you have aught against anyone, that your Father also, which is in heaven, may forgive you.' Again,' Whatsoever things ye pray and ask for, believe that ye have received them, and ye shall have them.' Pierson Student Missionary Conference 1896

Regarding Prayer and Mission Service...
"
Some can go; most can give; all can pray"—Mary Lyon

Regarding Intercessory Prayer...
"United prayer is useful inasmuch as God has promised extraordinary and special blessings in connection with it: “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” [Matthew 18:20]. “If two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven” [Matthew 18:19]. God asks for agreement, and, once the saints agree, he pledges himself that the prayer of his agreeing ones shall be answered. Why, see what accumulated force there is in prayer, when one after another pours out their passionate desires; when many seem to be tugging at the rope; when many seem to be knocking at mercy’s gate; when the mighty cries of many burning hearts come up to heaven. When, my beloved, you go and shake the very gates of heaven with the powerful battering-ram of holy passion, and sacred insistence, then will the kingdom of heaven forcefully advance. When first one, and then another, and yet another, throws their whole soul into the prayer, the kingdom of heaven is conquered and the victory is very great indeed."—Charles Spurgeon (Read more quotations on Intercessory Prayer)

"You may work without praying, but you can't pray without working." Hudson Taylor

"He has in His hand all the gold of the world, and we have only to go to headquarters to get all that is wanted." Hudson Taylor

"None can believe how powerful prayer is, and what it is able to effect, but those who have learned it by experience. It is a great matter when in extreme need to take hold on prayer. I know whenever I have prayed earnestly that I have been amply heard, and have obtained more than I prayed for. God indeed sometimes delayed, but at last He came." – Martin Luther

Recent addition on Abiding in God's Presence and Communion With God...
"The presence of God appeared to be deeply impressed upon his heart. He knew that God saw all that passed within him: he therefore laid open his inmost soul to this Sun of Righteousness, in order to be enlightened, warmed, and renovated by its beams. Hence his actions proceeded not from a constrained obedience, nor from the impulse of his own spirit, but were the result of the influence of the love of God. Besides this, he exercised himself constantly in looking unto God alone; in order that by the contemplation of him, he might become more and more enlightened, and imbibe fresh vigour from the immediate presence of his God and Saviour. He also recommended to others the divine presence in the soul, as an especial favor, and at the same time reminded them, that life from above is not the result of our own efforts, but must be produced in us by the sweet, and powerful, and vivifying presence of God."—Gerhard Tersteegen (Read more on Communing With God)

George Muller, Bible Reading
"Young believers, in the very outset of the Divine life, learn, in childlike simplicity, to wait upon God for everything! Treat the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Friend, able and willing to help you in everything. How blessed it is to be carried in His loving arms all the day long! I would say, that the divine life of the believer is made up of a vast number of little circumstances and little things. Every day there come before us a variety of little trials, and if we seek to put them aside in our own strength and wisdom we shall quickly find that we are confounded. But if, on the contrary, we take everything to God, we shall be helped, and our way shall be made plain. Thus our life will be a happy life!" Bible Reading

Dan Augsburger, The Indwelling Christ
When we present our emptied natures to God, He is willing to fill them, by means of the Holy Spirit, with the Lord Jesus Christ—which is the second, “filling,” half of sanctification. Just as the branch is completely dependent on the vine for life, so we come to completely depend on the life-giving, indwelling presence of Jesus Christ. Upon our dying to self a new power—Christ’s power—takes possession of the new heart and we begin to experience victory like never before. Victory is a Person—Our Savior—not a behavior! Sadly many Christians have surrendered everything to God and have seemingly died to self, but they have not taken Jesus as the fullness of all blessings to dwell in their hearts by faith. Therefore, in seeking victory as a behavior rather than victory as a Person, they necessarily suffer continuing defeat. As Christ is received through the emptying and filling process of sanctification, the manifestation of His character will necessarily attract other branches to attach themselves to the vine and begin bearing fruit—thereby bringing about the desired much! fruit. Dan Augsburger Indwelling Christ

George Muller, Faith
"God delights to increase the Faith of His children. Our Faith which is feeble at first, is developed and strengthened more and more by us. We ought, instead of wanting no trials before victory, no exercise for patience, to be willing to take them from God's hand as a means. I say — and say it deliberately — trials, obstacles, difficulties, and sometimes defeats, are the very food of Faith." George Muller, Faith

James McConkey, The Sure Shepherd
"Because God is your Shepherd you shall never want. Whisper it to yourself when the shadow falls: whisper it when business failure is impending: whisper it when awful temptation is stealing into your soul: whisper it to yourself as God’s great eternal truth. And as the waves of the sea dash themselves to nothingness upon the granite cliffs that rear themselves against them, so shall all temptations of the adversary dash themselves to pieces against your quiet faith in the Shepherd; and as the enemy comes in like a flood, the spirit of God will uplift this blessed standard for you: 'The Lord is my Shepherd; (therefore) I shall not want.'” James McConkey The Sure Shepherd

Nancy DeMoss, Brokenness
"Our generation has been programmed to pursue happiness, wholeness, good feelings about ourselves, positive self-image, affirmation, and cures for our hurt feelings and damaged psyches. But God is not as interested in these ends as we are. He is more committed to making us holy than making us happy. And there is only one pathway to holiness--one road to genuine revival--and that is the pathway of humility or brokenness. "
Nancy DeMoss from Brokenness

Prevailing Intercessory Prayer and Revival Needed!

Prevailing intercessory prayer and Revival are desperately needed today.

The church is in desperate need of a mighty revival of primitive godliness. Where are the intercessors and prayer warriors who intercede on behalf of others, who remember prayer requests, who pray for family members, who maintain a watchful vigil of intercessory prayer, who know how to get answers, can wield the weapon of prayer in miraculous ways, such that families and churches are transformed?

Why are Prevailing Intercessory Prayer and Revival languishing?

In spite of the desperate intercessors and prayer warriors acknowledge their intercessory prayers are going unanswered, that individuals and churches are remaining untouched! Why? Is God no longer interested in what is going on down here? Hardly. In the days of Israel of old when oppression and violence ruled the land, God wondered where the intercessors were? Are we having the same "AWOL" problem in our day?

Charles Finney, the great American revivalist, shares how he turned down one church's offer to pray for him because he couldn't see that their prayers were making a difference. In Charles Finney’s words to them, “If there were anything to your prayers, you would have driven the devil clear out of this town!” Eventually Finney he identified two reasons their prayers were not being answered. Those two reasons are still problematic for prevailing intercessory prayer in our day!
