Forgiveness Brings Healing
Vicky is a friend of mine. I’ve known her for some time and have always been blessed spending time with her. Recently she told me how forgiveness had brought healing to her life.
For some time Vicky has suffered from chronic pain in her back. Seeking to alleviate the pain, she has visited doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and chiropractors. Nothing has worked, unfortunately. She has prayed much and done what she could, but in spite of her many efforts nothing has changed.
Then, one day, Vicky attended a prayer meeting in a church other than her own. During the course of that meeting she was approached by a man who told her, “I feel impressed that you need to forgive someone.”
“Hm,” thought Vicky, “It is true that there are some people I hate, but how would this many know anything about me.”
Later in the same meeting she was approached by another individual who said the same thing: “I feel impressed that you need to forgive someone.” Needless to say, two strangers approaching her with the same message got her attention!
Upon returning home, she began talking to God about the two people who had approached her with their strong impressions that she needed to “forgive someone.” She had weathered some horrible experiences growing up and in her marriage and she had to admit there were a lot of people she hated. She began talking to God about them one at a time.
The list was long, however, and she finally said, “God there are too many people to go through individually, I think I need to forgive all of them.”
As she said these words, she felt some warmth at the top of her spine. She did not know what was happening, but there was a distinctly warm feeling at the top of her back. Soon the warmth traveled down her spine, and then disappeared. With the disappearance of the warmth, also disappeared her back pain!
Forgiveness apparently brought healing!
