The Blessings of Love & Unity

"Go, then come..."
Psalms 133: 1 "How pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity..."

D L Moody:
“Where there is union I do not believe any power, earthly or infernal, can stand before the work. When the church, the pulpit, and the pew, get united, and God’s people are all of one mind, Christianity is like a red hot ball rolling over the earth, and all the hosts of death and hell cannot stand before it.” D L Moody Prevailing Prayer.

Charles Finney:
“Nothing tends more to cement the hearts of Christians than praying together. Never do they love one another so well as when they witness the outpouring of each other’s hearts in prayer. Their spirituality begets a feeling of union and confidence, highly important to the prosperity of the Church. It can be doubtful whether Christians can ever be otherwise than united, if they are in the habit of really praying together. And where they have had hard feelings and differences among themselves, these are all done away by uniting in prayer.” Charles Finney, Lectures on Revival.

Ellen White:
“Unity in diversity among God’s children—the manifestation of love and forbearance in spite of difference of disposition—this is the testimony that God sent His Son into the world to save sinners.... This unity is the most convincing proof to the world of the majesty and virtue of Christ, and of His power to take away sin.... The powers of darkness stand a poor chance against believers who love one another as Christ has loved them, who refuse to create alienation and strife, who stand together, who are kind, courteous and tenderhearted.... In unity there is a life, a power, that can be obtained in no other way.” Ellen White, Sons & Daughters of God, p. 286.

“A few converted souls, uniting for one grand purpose under one head, will achieve victories in every encounter.” Ellen White, Testimonies Vol 6, p. 139.

“When men are bound together, not by force or self-interest, but by love, they show the working of an influence that is above every human influence. Where this oneness exists, it is evidence that the image of God is being restored in humanity, that a new principle of life has been implanted. It shows that there is power in the divine nature to withstand the supernatural agencies of evil, and that the grace of God subdues the selfishness inherent in the natural heart.” Ellen White, Desire of Ages, p. 678.

“We have a character to maintain, but it is the character of Christ. Having the character of Christ, we can carry on the work of God together. The Christ in us will meet the Christ in our brethren, and the Holy Spirit will give that union of heart and action which testifies to the world that we are children of God.” Ellen White, Testimonies, Vol 9, p. 187, 188.

“He in whose heart Christ abides recognizes Christ abiding in the heart of his brother. Christ never wars against Christ. Christ never exerts an influence against Christ. Christians are to do their work, whatever it may be, in the unity of the Spirit, for the perfecting of the whole body.... There is a vast power in the church when the energies of the members are under the control of the Spirit, gathering good from every source, educating, training, and disciplining self. Thus is presented to God a powerful organization, through which He can work for the conversion of sinners. Thus heaven and earth are connected, and all the divine agencies co-operate with human instrumentalities.” Ellen White, Signs of the Times, February 7, 1900.
